The Office of Information Technology and Learning Experience (OITLE) will be implementing an important cybersecurity enhancement across our College that in the coming weeks. As part of our ongoing commitment to protecting our digital environment and meeting regulatory requirements, we will be deploying SentinelOne, an Endpoint Detection and Response (EDR) and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) solution.
What is SentinelOne?
SentinelOne works like a security guard for your computer. It watches for suspicious activity and stops harmful programs before they can damage your files or steal information. Unlike older antivirus software, it uses advanced technology that doesn't slow down your computer and requires minimal interaction from you.
Why are we implementing this?
This implementation is required for our information security program to meet regulatory compliance requirements such as the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), as well as to satisfy our cybersecurity insurance requirements. These measures help protect our institution's data, including sensitive student information and research data.
Who else uses SentinelOne?
In addition to a number of other Higher Educational Institutions, SentinelOne is deployed across the Commonwealth in the K-12 public education system through a partnership with the Capital Area Intermediate Unit (CAIU).
