Overview
This article provides instructions for setting up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on an Android phone using the Microsoft Authenticator app when you do not have immediate access to a desktop or laptop computer.
Note: If you do have access to a desktop or laptop computer, use this article instead
MFA verifies your identity using:
- Something you know: your password
- Something you have: your Android phone
The Microsoft Authenticator app generates a 6-digit verification code that refreshes every 30 seconds.

Prerequisites
- An Android smartphone running Android 8.0 (Oreo) or later
- Microsoft Authenticator app installed
Download and install Microsoft Authenticator for Android:
Note: Please use the download link above to ensure you are installing the correct application. There are many apps in the Google Play Store that resemble Microsoft Authenticator but are not supported. Using the download link above will ensure you install the correct application.
Getting Started (iPhone)
- After installing Microsoft Authenticator, log in to myHACC and select "I want to do this now":


- Tap the blue "Tap/Click Here To Import Token" button:

- Choose “Just Once” and you will be taken to your authenticator app.

- This will add an entry titled “HACCMFA” Tap that entry, and you should see a rolling 6 digit number. That number is valid for 30 seconds. Tapping the number will copy the 6 digit code to your clipboard.

- Return to your mobile browser page, and paste the 6 digit code into the box. Then press Verify.

Important Notes
- The verification code refreshes every 30 seconds.
- Be sure to enter the code before it expires.
- If the code expires, use the newly displayed code.
- You will be offered a few one-time use codes that you can use as a backup to login in during an emergency where your registered device is lost, stolen, or unavailable.
