Learn how to back up and save your browser bookmarks in Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Mozilla Firefox by exporting them as an HTML file. This guide also covers how to restore bookmarks when needed.

Use the instructions below to back up or save your browser bookmarks. If you need assistance with these steps, please reach out to support@hacc.edu, and someone will be able to assist you.
Supported Browser Versions:
These steps apply to the following browser versions based on their current interfaces:
- Google Chrome: Version 85 and later
- Microsoft Edge: Version 80 and later (Chromium-based Edge)
- Mozilla Firefox: Version 78 and later
These versions cover most users with updated browsers.
Google Chrome
- Open Chrome and click the three dots (Menu) in the top-right corner.
- Select Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager.
- In the Bookmark Manager, click the three dots (More) in the top-right corner.
- Choose Export Bookmarks.
- Save the file (named
bookmarks.html
by default) to your preferred location.
You can import these bookmarks later by selecting Import Bookmarks in the same menu.
Microsoft Edge
- Open Edge and click the three dots (Menu) in the top-right corner.
- Go to Favorites > Manage Favorites.
- Click the three dots (More) in the Manage Favorites window.
- Select Export Favorites.
- Save the file (named
favorites.html
by default) to your preferred location.
To restore your bookmarks, use the Import Favorites option in the same menu.
Mozilla Firefox
- Open Firefox and click the Library icon (or press
Ctrl+Shift+O
to open the Bookmark Library).
- Select Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks (if Library is not visible).
- In the Library window, click Import and Backup in the toolbar.
- Select Export Bookmarks to HTML.
- Save the file (named
bookmarks.html
by default) to your preferred location.
To restore bookmarks, use the Import Bookmarks from HTML option in the same menu.
